I started Hansen Music Lessons because I believe music is one of God's most beautiful gifts. It has a unique way of bringing joy, building confidence, and pointing our hearts toward Him.
Over the past 20 years, I've had the privilege of teaching music through private lessons, in the school classroom, and by helping develop youth worship teams. Even after all these years, I still love learning and growing as both a musician and a teacher.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching students realize they're capable of more than they thought. I love creating a place where kids feel safe to try new things, build confidence, and discover the joy of making music. Whether we're celebrating a big breakthrough or laughing through a challenging lesson, my hope is that every student leaves feeling encouraged and inspired. When I'm not teaching, you'll usually find me leading worship at church, writing songs, homeschooling my kids, or enjoying the outdoors with my family.
HI! I'm Elliot! I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Worship Ministry from Boise Bible College and have served as a worship pastor in churches across Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. I've been playing guitar and drums for over 15 years and have spent the past three years teaching strudents of all ages and abilities.
While much of my musical experience comes from leading worship, my passion is helping students become well-rounded musicians. I don't just want students to learn how to play a song. I want them to understand how music works, build strong foundations, and develp the skills and confidence to play the music they love across different styles and genres.
One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is watching a student push through the moment when learning an instrument feels difficult. The first chords, rhythms, and techniques can be frustrating, and it's easy to feel like progress is too slow. But those first breakthroughs—playing a first song, locking into a beat, or finally understanding a concept—often become the moments that spark a lifelong love for music.
My goal is to help students experience and discover the joy of making music. Whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to continue growing as a musician, I'd love to help you along the journey.
